The Laboratory of Epidemiology and Clinical studies in Oral health

 

The lab focuses on trends and epidemiological data on one hand and in short- and long-term clinical studies on the other. The research is assessing the impact of oral diseases such as dental caries, periodontal diseases, oropharyngeal cancer, on oral-socio-economic indicators, and the influence of oral diseases on the quality of life and wellbeing of the individual and the society. By emphasizing research, the outcome raises the awareness of the oral health dimension and the importance of its treatment among needy populations, the impact on the dental team manpower as well as among policy-makers, and by that to bring an improvement in the quality of life of the population. By combining epidemiological research and clinical studies, the laboratory performs statistical analyses, gathers clinical data and biological parameters, and interprets the findings to understand the clinical mechanisms of a wide range of oral and dental diseases. We aim to improve the understanding of oral diseases, promote innovative preventive and therapeutic solutions, and promote oral and dental health among the population
